I'll tell you something, we aren't that different. I might make a living online, and maybe you make a living at some other job, but we are still people making a living.
Sometimes I rant just like you. Like this message I sent a guru who I respect a great deal and who has actually helped me make a lot of money over the last several years.
It was a reply to an email they sent me.
Hey [redacted for privacy],
Kam here. I know this email you sent me probably went to everyone who hasn't bought this product but did sign up to attend the original live webinar.
I want to give you my feedback on this strictly because I think you might be interested in honest feedback. It is in no way meant to offend you.
I respect the work you do and I've learned a great deal from you these last several years. I really have enjoyed my [redacted for privacy] Membership.
That being said, I find AI being used in the way that you talk about in the [redacted for privacy] program to be creepy.
I don't like the idea of AI knowing me "better than I know myself." I don't really want to have any kind of "enhanced brain."
Maybe that makes me outdated. I don't know. I know that AI seems like the future, especially for us marketers. It's always been whatever is easier, faster, cheaper...that's always been what people are interested in.
I understand that is AI.
I guess to me, it makes little sense to embrace something in the short term because that seems like what makes sense, when everyone can see that what they are embracing is designed to eventually replace everyone at everything.
That doesn't make sense. It's like short term gain for long term loss.
I don't mind teaching people how to use AI to do some things. But having it replace your brain? Enhance your brain? Know you better than you know yourself?
I'm sorry but nobody is going to know me better than I know myself. Definitely not Google or Open AI.
All these other marketers around here can ride this AI wave all the way down to a "universal basic income" but not me.
If I'm going out of business from being outdated, at least I'll go out of business believing in what I'm doing. I still believe in a person paying another person for value given.
I still believe in learning a certain set of skills and acquiring value that others wish to attain.
I don't believe in AI taking everything from everyone except a few savvy business owners. Because the "connect the dots" line isn't that long to see how the AI replaces those few savvy business owners either.
And that's a depressing future that I don't want to support.
That's all I got. Still hold you in very high regard and count you among awesome people who have influenced my trajectory in business. But on this subject, we disagree.
Kam
So if you want to support an old dog like me who still believes in the human spirit, and is drawing a line for what AI should be responsible for...
...that's what I'm about.
If you think that's outdated, and you love the idea of AI taking over everything???
You probably don't belong on my list. It's a good time to jump off.
It's a tool. To be treated like a tool. As soon as you start letting it think for you...
...how does the world not become a worse place? It's impossible.
People need to think for themselves.
That's all I got.
Kam
P.S. Could I have burned another bridge with the above email response? Very possible. Some people don't like the raw truth. Me? I don't mind it. I'm a realist. If you want to learn more about my realist ways, you can check out my audio newsletter here: VoiceMail.
In truth and spirit- it’s a win win💪 AI might beat us in the short term but the human spirit will always win the long game.
