One word at a time…
Sometimes it’s hard to know what to say with your content. This day and age, many might take one look at that daunting “writer’s block” and run as fast as they can into the cold dead arms of their favorite LLM for ideas…
…but not me. And that doesn’t have to be you either. I’ll tell you a little secret about it.
Right now as you sit where you are and read this email there are absolutely two things that you have in your brain.
One) What is going on in your immediate environment. The weather, the sounds, the ambiance, etc.
Two) Your current emotion. And maybe that is a decided “lack of emotion.” That counts.
So for me that would look something like this:
As I sit here typing this to you, it’s a nice and cozy 41 degrees in the Field. This is the great state of Ohio I’m talking about. “The Field” is what a lot of us locals refer to Springfield as.
And on top of that it’s raining. That’s what I like to call “Another day in paradise...”
[Sarcastic grin ensues.] Anyways…
…it’s quiet out there. All the criminals and degenerates have taken the night off, I suppose. I don’t hear any sirens. Even the unlucky bastards having heart attacks…
…must have taken the night off for the fat man in the red suit. I’m kidding, relax.
But it is Christmas Eve. And it IS quiet in my town. Me?
I’m just sitting here writing this to you. Reflecting a little on 2024. It sure went by fast. Seems like the older I get…
…the faster they blur together.
It’s almost like if you aren’t careful, you’ll miss one of them. I finished up the last of my Christmas Shopping today (you know…nice and early, lol.)
But all that aside, I’m excited. I’m happy to be alive and kicking on this big blue ball of crazy…
…have a family that I'm proud of, who loves me, and a business that I built that I still don’t absolutely hate. Because you know…
…it wasn’t so long ago that I was working for other people doing what they needed me to do, and just trying to make it to payday.
So I feel quite blessed. But all that being said…
Those two little things that we all always have floating around up in our minds? The no-brainer content starter?
One) What is going on in your immediate environment. The weather, the sounds, the ambiance, etc.
Two) Your current emotion. And maybe that is a decided “lack of emotion.” That counts.
Easy way to start up some interesting content. The next step is to segue that into something that your market cares about. There are easy ways to do that too.
Want to hear about them? Lemme know. Reply back to this email with a “please continue…”
And if I get enough people saying that? Then I’ll continue this conversation in our next email. Heck maybe it will be a series. Or a book? Or a series of books? Or a book of emails?
Okay, I’m getting a little slap happy now. I hope you are doing well out there on this morning of Christmas Eve.
Merry Christmas. Stay warm out there!
That’s all I got!
